In this episode, Max and Amit talk about IDES unemployment benefits with Karen Doran, the founder of Karen Doran Law Office, focusing on plaintiff’s-side employment law. Karen has been doing this work since 2004. During her career she worked for a not-for-profit legal organization called Legal Aid Chicago (back when it was called Legal Assistance Foundation). It was there that she gained extensive experience representing Claimants fighting for their unemployment benefits. Though she’s again a member of the private attorney’s bar, she still takes on a number of unemployment cases, particularly over the past year because of the massive uptick in claims during this COVID crisis. learn more: https://www.nela-illinois.org/content.aspx?page_id=80&club_id=853437&member_id=3642109
This is a podcast about law in the workplace, or the laws and issues that affect our workplaces. The goal of this podcast is to have conversations with employment lawyers to discuss these issues for non-lawyers to understand, and to throw in some interesting “war stories” to give life to our topics. Employment law touches a broad range of topics (from negotiating employment and severance agreements, to being a whistleblower, to discrimination matters, to biometrics, and so much more), and we want to create a discussion around those topics.
